Allura
by Christine Young

With her golden hair and cobalt eyes, Allura McClellan was a trophy beyond compare. Her hand in marriage given to any man who could discover her secret, she set out to bedevil every man who answered the ad her father placed in the London Times until Hunter Gray and Englishman, discovered her island and banished all other men from her life. Burning with indignation and passion, she was determined to keep her secret from the arrogant Englishman and to keep her independence at any cost.

The bastard son of an English earl, he made a name for himself in the service of his country. Hunter Gray vowed no one would keep him from winning the hand of the fair Allura and in doing so realizing his dreams. He was stronger and more cunning than the men who had come before. The man who had fought many a war against the French swore he would capture the heart of the passionate young woman he came to Scotland to claim.

Christine Young
Born in Medford, Oregon, novelist Christine Young has lived in Oregon all of her life. After graduating from Oregon State University with a BS in science, she spent another year at Southern Oregon State University working on her teaching certificate, and a few years later received her Master's degree in secondary education and counseling. Now the long, hot days of summer provide the perfect setting for creating romance. She sold her first book, Dakota's Bride, the summer of 1998 and her second book, My Angel to Kensington. Each fall, Christine returns to the classroom - and the pool - as a math teacher and high school swimming coach. Her teaching and writing careers have intertwined with raising three children. Yet summer still seems to be lucky for romance,. Awe-struck e-books will release another of Christine's historical romances in August 2006, HIGHLAND HONOR and HIGHLAND MAGIC in December 2006. Christine and her husband of 28 years live in Salem, Oregon, where she is currently working on another novel.

Reviews

“Allura and Hunter are so well depicted, the reader can relate to them as if they are real people. People the reader hopes fervently will find some way to bridge the wide gap between their beliefs and values, thereby creating a way for the love they each feel to find a path that will lead Allura and Hunter to a happy-ever-after.”
Long and Short Reviews

Christine Young’s ALLURA is a delightful historical novel full of suspense, lovable characters, humor and a budding romance between two characters determined not to fall in love.

I really enjoyed this book by Christine Young. It has mystery, humor and, whew, steamy love scenes! An awesome group of characters make this read very entertaining, from the tough as nails Allura to her meddlesome younger sister, Aiden. There is never a dull moment throughout this book and you will surely not be disappointed. I can only hope that some of my favorites get a story of their own. Well done Ms. Young.

Excerpt

Mesmerized, Allura watched the brazen Englishman stride toward her. Close up, his hair seemed blacker than midnight. The green of his eyes was shuttered and dark. His slightly crooked nose, the high cheek bones, and the frankly sensuous mouth were bathed in sunlight while his chin and the hollows of his cheek were in stark relief, making his face at once handsome and yet unyielding and harsh. The corded muscles of his arms stood out, sunlight caressing the silver band that encircled one arm.

He smiled and his eyes were alight with a secret. Then he sank down on one knee. For a few striking moments he gazed at her, his eyes knifing through her as if he could see all her dreams and hopes. He lightly touched the tips of her fingers and slowly lifted her hand, never letting his gaze move from her. After pausing a moment, he brushed feather soft kisses across her knuckles.

She inhaled a swift, deep gasp of air and stepped backward. It was, she thought breathlessly, unfair for any man to look as Hunter Gray did, to have such thick, curly black hair, such long, luxurious eyelashes, such beautiful green eyes and a mouth--Allura swallowed with difficulty--a mouth that made the most erotic thoughts flash through her head.
