Learning to play is easy if you have the right book. "Celebrate the Native American Flute"and "Campfire Flute" are two such books. No music background or training is required to get the most from this method. These two books will take you from ground zero--maybe from even BELOW ground zero--to playing very nice tunes in less time than you can imagine. Through the experience of giving bucket loads of music lessons, Dick Claassen has put together a flute book method that will get you up and running in no time! Wanna no more? Want all the details? Just click.

After the resounding success of "Celebrate the Native American Flute"--Dick Claassen's first method book on how to play the Native American flute--Dick has followed up this success with another book--this time a book on Christmas carols. It's titled, "Christmas Carols for the Native American Flute". Although the title for this kind of book might be predictable, the inside of the book is not. Dick's flute instruction books are not a mass of gobbledygook meant for the seasoned musician. The books, including this one, are laid out in a clear and simple way so that even someone who has no music background whatsoever can successfully master the material, and have a lot of fun doing it. The book, "Campfire Flute", is included.

The Native American Flute: Myth, History, Craft is like other historical accounts, relying on fact polluted by myth and myth diluted by fact. This book attempts, however, to separate flute myth from fact by exploring the instrument’s true historical and contemporary place and function, detailing its development and use by women and men, myths it inspired, and techniques and instructions required to craft both the ancient and modern versions.

Explore. Craft. Play. Click here to find preview links and a gorgeous sample MP3.

Learn the history, the craft, and how to play the NA flute. MP3s are included.

~Where to Buy a Great Flute You Can Afford~

Chris Fuqua is one of those people who loves to do things right. And that includes his philosophy about building Native American flutes. There are lots of flute builders online, and Chris is one of them. But Chris's particulars on how to contact him is on this page because we know, from experience, that he builds great flutes. They sound beautiful, they are physically easy to manage, (a plus for those of us who may have smaller hands), and the workmanship is first class. Flutes are custom-built to customer desire (key, totem, etc.). Basic PVC flute, in black or white, with standard fetish is $38 plus $8 for first-class shipping. Cost increases if customer desires flute decoration or custom totem. You can reach Chris at his email--csfuqua at knology.net You can also visit his website at-

But how about a preview of Chris's work before you click...? (photos below)

This particular flute is in the key of E. They sound beautiful, and their lower price allows you to experiment with different sizes without making a large financial committment.

The top flute is an F# and the bottom flute is an E. The E flute has a lower sound but the finger holes are further apart. If the flute is for a small child, the E flute would probably not be playable by small hands. If you are not sure which size and hole spacing you can handle comfortably, Chris can give you advice. He will even talk to you by phone, if you prefer.
