The
girls and the airplane crew stood silently behind Alex and Summer,
while they were married. The ceremony was performed by the worst
preacher and Elvis impersonator either of them had ever seen and
at the dingiest little chapel ever created in Las Vegas.
The
chapel was called the "By Your Number" Marriage Chapel, because
couples took a number when they entered. When the number was called,
they were escorted onto a wooden stage, enhanced by disco lights,
and then married by a singing Elvis.
Summer
had wanted to leave as soon as she saw the place, but Alex had
told her that it was the only chapel he knew of in Vegas where
the Paparazzi didn't hang out in search of celebrities. He wanted
no one to know of the marriage, except his grandmother.
Raven
and Amber wore matching pink dresses during the ceremony. Raven
carried Summer's bouquet, which Alex had surprisingly pulled out
of the jet's refrigerator. It was a small bunch of delicately
trimmed white roses. It was the nicest part of the ceremony.
Amber
had been kindly asked by Alex to be the ring bearer, and she had
done it, but only after she sought Summer's approval. Alex had
gone overboard with the ring. It was a gigantic two-carat diamond,
which Summer found gaudy, but he had sworn at her when she had
interrupted the ceremony, and told her that she could always pawn
it later. She'd had no recourse but to slap him, despite the presence
of the singing Elvis and the wedding party. Amber had then kicked
him in the shins and Raven attacked him with her teeth, once more.
Yes, all-in-all, the wedding was quite lovely.
