REVIEWS:

"I became enthralled in this story right from the start. Jenny’s attack is horrifying, but she’s such a strong character she is able to overcome her fears, and reinvent herself to become a better person. Even though the attack plays a major part of this story, Jenny’s return to her family, and the community she grew up in fascinates me. It is obvious how much they love Jenny, and respect how well she’s done for herself. She has achieved what she set out to do and no longer lives in Boughten, but it’s still home, and it’s wonderful to see that idea take hold of Jenny. I love that Riley refuses to allow Jenny to wallow in self-pity, she’s a doctor, even with mangled hands is still able to help others. Through helping at the clinic, Jenny rebuilds her confidence in herself and discovers a new purpose in life." Reviewed by Chrissy Dionne of Romance Junkies, 4 BLUE RIBBONS

Excerpt:

"Then what do you want?" He wasn't touching her but she could feel him close to her. Why did she find him so attractive despite her commitment to Peter?

He touched a curl that fell on her shoulder. "You."

Jenny's heart bumped once then began to race. She tried to say the words that would stop him. She opened her mouth to remind him that she was engaged but his arms closed around her slowly.

"Now's the time to call me those bad names you learned when you were growing up," he said softly, kissing her cheek and forehead.

She didn't speak. God help her, she wanted him! When his lips met hers, she answered him lavishly. Where she was cold, he was warm. Where he was hard, she was soft. She'd never been attracted to a man who could overrule her mind and make her forget everything but how much she wanted to be near him. It was potent. It was dangerous. It sizzled across her spine and she shivered against him.

"Cold?" He kissed her ear and her neck.

"N-no," she replied. "Riley--"

"I don't know if I can stop wanting you," he told her. "I can't turn it on and off. I don't have an old and new side to me. There's only this one part and it doesn't seem to care about anything but you."

He kissed her again, sweetly, and passionately. She felt herself melting into his embrace. She lost herself to his touch but not in the same way that she did with Peter. With Peter it was frightening. It was being a zombie, lying there as he performed the act on her.

With Riley, it was warmth that spread through her. It was standing in the face of the sun on a warm summer day and being devoured by it. His emotions sang through her until she felt like singing. His kisses renewed her. She thought she could do anything again.

"This isn't fair," she complained.

"I know it." He encouraged the rest of her hair to fall down around them. His fingers slid down her spine. She arched her back, bringing her breasts against his chest. His hands slid under the big green shirt and touched her soft skin. Riley sighed and closed his eyes as he stroked her back and brought his hands forward to cup her breasts. Her skin was cold. He lowered his mouth to warm her.
