Sabrina touched her heart to make sure it hadn't stopped.
With a slow and easy gait, he wove his way through the crowd. His face set, as though intent on his victim. Entire tables of women craned their necks to catch a glimpse as he strode by. The sheen of his bare chest glowed in the candlelight, and even with a cape thrown carelessly over his shoulders there was ample view of his chiseled torso.
He reminded her of a great panther, dark, sleek, powerful. His eyes glittered ebony, with dark brows and lashes adding to the mystery. Sabrina wished to be his prey. The object of the hunger in his eyes. The sizzling thought sent smoke curling deep inside.

He lowered his face to hers, his lips just touching hers as she held her breath. She tried to fight her body's need for his touch, his kiss. This couldn't be? This wasn't Jeff. This wasn't Jeff. Jeff left her.
Vincent's lips brushed across hers, but her mind turned everything around, making it feel as though Jeff were kissing her at that very moment. She pulled out of his grasp, startled, and stared into Vincent's eyes once more.
A servant, dressed in a bright red colonial butler's uniform and white powdered wig, stopped in front of them and bowed at the waist. "Five minutes until midnight, Madame, Sir. We'll ring the unmasking bell twelve times, and you may then reveal yourselves to each other."

Kayla curled her fingers around his hardness. "You fit my fingers perfectly, Kirk," she whispered, her gaze locking with his. She eased up on her toes and flicked her tongue across his bottom lip. With a sexy smile tugging at her lips, she stroked his hot flesh, eliciting another groan from him.

His gaze dropped to her lips, which parted of their own volition. Her thoughts scattered as she swayed toward him.
"Celia." His mouth captured hers in a kiss sweeter than all the molasses cookies combined. His arms came around her and he pulled her close.
Her hand tentatively curled around his neck, then lost itself in his thick mane. He moaned, deepening their kiss.
