Emily Deans finished her first novella at the age of twelve, and she hasn't stopped writing since. As a freshman in college she began attending writing workshops and meetings of local chapter of the Romance Writers of America. Her work there led to the creation of her first full-length novel, The Scheming Spinster. She chose the Regency genre because she found the history fascinating, and she enjoyed creating a sweetly romantic story with strong-minded characters and wry humor. Romance was not her only interest, however, and she soon wrote three science fiction manuscripts, one work of fantasy, and most recently a medical thriller. At the same time she completed her undergraduate degree and then a medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. She continues to write while working long hours as an intern physician. She uses any other spare time to play the guitar, entertain her cat, or, occasionally, to sleep.
